The first Kodak camera, invented by George Eastman, was placed on the market in 1888. It was a simple handheld box camera containing a 100-exposure roll of film that used paper negatives instead of glass plates to take circular pictures, each roughly 2.5 inches (6 cm) in diameter. The camera was sold for $25 with the film sealed inside.
